Hating Christians because they don’t believe the same thing as you is ridiculous, and it’s exactly the same thing as homophobia. Tumblr users always brag about how open and accepting they are, but apparently it’s okay to hate Christians publicly.

I KNOW RIGHT! I thought this was a place for acceptance and love, not hate and bigotry.

If you’ve ever made a pro-life post, you know that this is NOT a place of acceptance and love. Haters start coming out of the woodwork.

Are you serious, right now?
What homophobia leads to: the belief that being gay a) is wrong, b) is worthy of “eternal damnation,” c) means you are a second-class citizen not allowed the basic rights and freedoms that straight people receive, d) gives a future employer ~valid reason~ to not hire someone, e) allows politicians and police officers and mainstream media conglomerates and advertising firms and parents and teachers and classmates to think of you as a bad, immoral, unnatural person simply because you happen to be attracted to the same sex, f) allows peers bullying you, verbally/emotionally/physically abusing you because of who you love, g) means that suicide is the only way out of how terrible your life is obviously going to be because other people can’t be fucked to care about someone who is different from them.
What “bashing” Christians on Tumblr leads to: Christians getting their feelings hurt by a non-mainstream, blogging website for however long they decide to stay on the site for the day, until they go out into the real word and don’t have a) people on TV lumping people of your religion in for terrorist actions, b) people belittling your religion for being “weird” or c) being told REPEATEDLY or passive-aggressively that they are going to burn in Hell for all eternity.
So, please. Check your goddamn privilege and sit the fuck down.

^^^ Exhibit A.

Are YOU serious right now?
What Christian hate leads to: the belief that being Christian is a) wrong, even though every other religion is deemed worthy of respect because it’s “what’s true is true for you” and because of political correctness, b) worthy of social, economic, and political stratification, c) means in many parts of the world you are a second-class citizen not allowed the basic rights and freedoms non-Christian receive, d) gives future employers “valid reason” not to higher you—just ask the medical schools who are screening out anyone they suspect of being pro-life, e) allows politicians and police officers and mainstream media conglomerates and advertising firms and parents and teachers and classmates stereotype you, to think of you as stupid and narrow-minded without reason or evidence, to bully you about your beliefs, to ridicule you and your traditions to your face, g) it means the only way out of the stereotypes, prejudice, discrimination, bullying, abuse, and terrorization is apostasy, which does mean eternal damnation unless it’s retracted. So much for America the Free, where “it’s okay to practice your religion or lack thereof and live your chosen lifestyle because we respect them all equally!”
What bashing Christian on Tumblr leads to: ridiculous double standards where no one can see that they’re championing equality and respect for everyone except the Christians because dear God they actually believe some things are true and some things are false!, hate-mongering, denial of the fact that in 90% of the world publicly declaring yourself a Christian means risking your life, and the furthering of the mentality that it’s acceptable to be anything BUT Christian.
Hate is hate, prejudice is prejudice, double standards are double standards. Stop championing freedom FROM religion in the name of freedom FOR religion. Check your prejudice and your double standards at the door. No Christian who is homophobic is actually Christian. No social justice pusher who thinks Christianity ought to be banned and all Christians forbade practice of their religion is actually pushing social justice.
Stop shouting about how all the Christians are oppressing you and actually talk to one once in a while, one who actually lives the teachings of Christ. Chances are they’re struggling for survival just as much as the next victim of homophobia.
Publicly announce you’re a homosexual in America, and more than half of the country is crowning you queen. Publicly announce you’re a Christian in America, and more than half the country is stoning you for daring to believe that God became man and saved your soul from an eternity of torment. Funny thing is, most of the true Christians were in the welcoming committee for Average-Person’s coming out party, telling them, hey, God loves you, we’re all God’s children, and if you want, I’ll tell you more about that later.
Blanket judgments about Christians are exactly as detrimental to human solidarity and personhood as blanket judgments about non-heterosexual persons. Hating on Christians on tumblr reveals exactly the same nasty attitude that fuels homophobia. Same horrible attitude, same horrible ends. It’s ALL wrong. IIt’s time people start recognizing that and act—and blog—accordingly.
